Toshiba 27WL56 27 Inch LCD TV Review
In the 27WL56 Toshiba have provided us with a mid-range TV worth a second look. An ideal replacement for the standard bedroom CRT TV, future proofed by the inclusion of HDMI connectivity. However in going all out to secure the digital connection, it’s a shame that Toshiba neglected the rest of the TV connections. There are no component inputs and no S-Video; the 27WL56 has 1 SCART socket and has composite input and output, possibly the poorest quality connection you could get. The ‘ HD Ready’ tag that this TV wears is a rarity with very few TV’s of this size boasting such a title but for anyone who wishes to connect multiple media to the TV I say good luck. Picture wise the 27WL56 is quite good, boasting better quality than most rivals. There is no integrated tuner so for all those who wish to watch digitally, a set top box will be required. Simplicity is the key, and if Toshiba’s aim was to provide a cheap replacement for a bedroom CRT then they have succeeded.
